Heritage Food Day and Family Visiting Day

Heritage Day
All students are invited to bring in a culinary dish highlighting their heritage. The event is celebrated during Catholic Schools Week, and is especially fun for the children who enjoy tasting dishes from other cultures. Class parents send out a flyer in advance of Heritage Day, in order to coordinate the class menu.

What food should I prepare for Heritage Day?
Parents are asked to prepare a small dish (appetizer, main dish, or dessert) that signifies their child's heritage and bring it to school (heated, if necessary).  Finally, when preparing the item, keep in mind that the children are encouraged to taste many different foods, so their portions are typically very small. Please try to avoid dishes containing peanuts, as some children may be allergic.

When should I bring the food?
Food can be sent in the morning with your child, or brought in by a parent by 10:30 a.m. that morning.

Where should I bring the food?
All food should be delivered to the cafeteria. There is very limited place to warm items, so please send food in fully cooked, if applicable.  Be sure to attach a label with the type of dish, heritage, child's name and grade.  Food should be placed in a disposable dish and marked clearly with the child's name and grade.
