Transfiguration School

Art Program

The art program at Transfiguration School follows the NYS and Archdiocesan Visual Arts Education Standards.  This simply stated means that through experiences, the students will become aware of: Aesthetics (perceiving and appreciating), Art Criticism (evaluating), Art Heritage (understanding), and Art Production (Creating).  The overall goal of their teacher is to foster self-expression and creativity through the use of different materials and concepts.

This school year, the students will explore the contributions of the Native American Indian, along with Medieval and Egyptian Art and their cultural effects on society.  In depth, the students will become aware of the life and works of great artists such as Leonardo DaVinci, Wayne Thiebaud, and Frank Lloyd Wright.  A student project will be associated with each of the above arts and artists.  Seasonal projects will also be assigned.

Art classes are scheduled on Tuesdays.  The Art Teacher is available to speak or meet with you on this day.
