Dear Parents,

As you see on the playground our generator is still with us.  The Church has been working closely with the  Archdiocese to expedite this process.  According to Fr. Emiel & company, they hope to have it removed by the end of next week.  All the work has been completed, we are just waiting for everyone to sign off, and get us back up and running.  We are very grateful to Fr. Emiel and the Transfiguration Parish for their support.  This is a hugh expense to them and they as well as us want this work completed as soon as possible so the children can enjoy the playground again.

A gentle reminder to parents to please talk to your children about playing nicely on the black top.  We have limited green space and supervision at recess.  There will be significant changes for the upcoming school year regarding recess.

Congratulations to our 5th Grade class – Yesterday, our 5th Grade graduated from the D.A.R.E program.  Since October, Det. Brian Byrnes of the Tarrytown Police Department has been educating the 5th Graders about D.A.R.E which is and educational program that seeks to prevent use of controlled drugs, membership in gangs, and violent behavior. We are proud of our 5th Grade class for the effort they put into this program and congratulate them and their teacher Mrs. Jurgensen.

Final Exams – Next week we will continue with final exams for students in grades 3rd – 8th.  It is very important that all student be in the building no later than 7:50a.m.  we need to start these exams on time.

Hillside Food Outreach Update – Our very own 6th Grader, Wil Torreyson, would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all who took the time to donate canned veggies and pancake mix towards his Food Drive supporting Hillside Outreach – providing healthy food to feed hungry children in Westchester County!

Wil’s soccer team, Eastern FC Kicks, raised over $1,000 in cash donations and collected hundreds of canned low salt veggies and boxes of whole wheat pancake mix.  Wil surpasssed his goal of 40 cans/20 boxes by collecting 92 cans/33 boxes – and this couldn’t have been accomplished without the help of his Transfiguration Family!! We are still calculating the totals across all teams for the Club, but wanted to extend a BIG Thank You for lending a hand in this important effort!

Transfiguration School Summer Enrichment Program – We still have space available for more to join the Summer Enrichment Program.  This program is available to students entering PK3 through 2nd Grade.  Camp will begin June 26 and run until August 4.  Please let the school office know if you need a Registration Form.  If you have question please email Mrs Rachel Fortinash at Rachel.Fortinash@transfigurationschool.org

Field Day Permission Slips – Went home yesterday for students in grades K-8.   Please get these back to school by June 7th.

Sincerely,

GinaMarie Fonte

Dear Parents,

On Monday, the students and I presented the faculty with flower bouquets and beautiful notes, the faculty then enjoyed a delicious lunch.  I am sure they felt appreciated and loved by all. On Tuesday, the 3rd grade won the Pig Race and received they class party in a box. Thank you to  Mrs. Gramaglia who arranged for the pig races. The students who sold the most wrapping paper were allowed to Silly String Ms. Fonte.  Check out the pics on Twitter and Facebook.  Wednesday, children did the foul shooting, as well as a Spirit Parade led by our Grand Marshal, Bradyn Moriarity from 2nd Grade.   As you know Thursday was the day for eating.  Thank you parents and class parents that put together our Heritage Day events.  The students enjoyed an ice cream sundae today and a big congratulations to the faculty for winning the volleyball game against the  8th Grade today. The 8th grade played a great game with a close score.  I hope my faculty that played come in on Monday and don’t call me and tell me they are too  sore to work on Monday!

Overall, we had a wonderful Catholic Schools week I hope your children enjoyed it as much as we did.

Re-Registration – This week I sent home a letter to Parents in K-7 regarding online registration for the 2017-2018 school year.  You should have received an email from TADS with a link to register.  Please let us know if you did not receive an email, we will look into it.  PK4 parents will receive a separate letter to register your children for Kindergarten on Monday.

Pizza Fridays – Next Friday, February 10th we will order pizza from Capri Pizza.  If you child would like to order, please send in a labeled envelope with your child’s name, grade and # of slices by Wednesday, February 8th.  The pizza is only $2 a slice.  A separate envelope is Mandatory for each student.  Please send in exact change.  Students will not be able to purchase on Friday, they must pre-order.

Parents’ Guild News – We still have many families that have  not paid their Parents’ Guild Dues of $75.00 as well as their Calendar Raffle tickets of $200.  As I understand it, many families thought the Guild Dues  was coming out of   your Smart Tuition account, but this year it should come directly to the school.  Sorry for any confusion. However, these funds were due in October and December, 2016.   If you could please check your records and send it in if you have not done so already.

Volleyball News – It’s time for our volleyball season to start. We are going to have sign ups Tuesday , February 7th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the school hallway. This year you cannot send them in after Tuesday. If you would like to join and cannot make it please email me before Tuesday night.
I’m also looking for a head coach for both Varsity and JV teams. I have a very busy schedule this year and I cannot do it. I will do all the paperwork and help out when I can. If you are interested please let me know.
Any questions please email me. I hope to see everyone from last year and some new faces. Megan Husband  Mph0502@aol.com
